A life-size sculpture of "Stardust" composer Hoagy Carmichael that toured Indiana last year is returning to Indiana University, where it will find a home in a part of the campus that's filled with students every day. The bronze sculpture of the Bloomington native, who died in 1981, will rest outside the IU Auditorium, along Jordan Avenue, the IU Board of Trustees decided this week.
IU Vice President Terry Clapacs said the area was a perfect match for the sculpture, which features Carmichael at his trademark Steinway piano. He said the spot "was made for this piece."
