Strategies for a healthy lifestyle -- from people who should know

The third annual Indiana University Conference on Healthy Living will be held on Feb. 27, offering the general public "Strategies for a Healthy Lifestyle," from Indiana University's leading health and fitness experts.

Emotional fitness, nutritional care for asthma, technology and our Golden Years, and cancer prevention are just some of the topics to be discussed.

A health forecast for the state of Indiana is the keynote topic this year. Robert M. Goodman, dean of IU Bloomington's School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation is a participant in the discussion, as is School of Nursing Dean Marion Broome, and School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences Dean Joyce MacKinnon, both representing the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.

Goodman is moderater for a lunch panel on the "Economic Impact of Chronic Disease on the State of Indiana." This panel also will feature Mary Hill, deputy state health commissioner of Indiana.

The event will be held at the Indiana Government Conference Center, South Auditorium, 302 W. Washington St., in Indianapolis. The event is open to the public. Registrations, which are due Feb. 20, cost $25 for members of the IU Alumni Association and $55 for non-members. The conference is sponsored by the School of HPER, several IUPUI schools and their alumni associations, the Central Indiana Chapter of the Indiana University Alumni Association, and the Indiana State Department of Health Community Nutrition/Obesity Prevention Office.
