IU President McRobbie expresses condolences on passing of State Sen. David Ford

NOTE: Indiana University President Michael McRobbie made the following statement about Indiana State Sen. David Ford, who died today (March 5) at age 59.

Indiana Senator David Ford, a recipient last year of the Welsh-Bowen Distinguished Public Official Award from IU, passed away March 5 at age 59.

President McRobbie: "The Indiana University community is deeply saddened by the passing of State Sen. David Ford. An IU graduate, Sen. Ford was a tireless advocate for his alma mater, and his heroic efforts were recognized last year when he received the Welsh-Bowen Distinguished Public Official Award. He leaves a strong legacy of leadership in the areas of science and technology, and we will be forever grateful for his dedicated commitment to higher education in Indiana. Our deepest condolences go out to Sen. Ford's family."
