Events

Spins and Charges in Low dimensions
Nov. 19, 2008
4 to 5 p.m.
Swain Hall West 119, IU Bloomington

Free and open to the public. Amir Yacoby of Harvard University will discuss the physics of elementary particles under conditions of constraint. The confinement of electrons to low dimension offers rich possibilities for exploring new physics in a controllable environment. In such restricted geometries, electronic excitations often acquire surprising physical properties that are a result of the underlying lattice and the Coulomb interaction among the electrons. Using Drosophila to Explore the Pathogenesis and Treatment of Parkinson's Disease
Nov. 20, 2008
4 to 5 p.m.
Myers Hall 130, IU Bloomington

Hosted by Tai Min, this lecture on fruit fly models for the degenerative disorder is part of the IU Department of Biology's Genetics, Cellular Biology, and Development program seminar series. The speaker, Leo Pallanck, is on the faculty at the University of Washington. For more information, please see https://www.bio.indiana.edu/events/GCDB.html.

Regulating Retinal Regeneration through the Muller glia
Dec. 4, 2008
