Encouragement awards went to Stephanie Washington, soprano, student of Carol Vaness, and Siân Davies, soprano, student of Costanza Cuccaro.

Total prize money awarded in the Indiana District was $4,000.

Judges for this year's competition were Timothy O'Leary, general director of Opera Theatre of St. Louis; Jane Bunnell, mezzo-soprano; and Brian Zeger, artistic director of Juilliard, representing the Met.
