Scientists at the Indiana University School of Medicine and Purdue University have established the only research and large-scale breeding colony of Ossabaw swine in the world to study the progression of metabolic syndrome, Type I and Type II diabetes, heart disease, and polycystic ovary syndrome. In this video Michael Sturek, chair of the Department of Cellular and Integrative Physiology at the IU School of Medicine, discusses why Ossabaw swine are ideal for the research.
