Aeolian and fluvial processes are evident in the coal flats of the ENOS mine (Indiana). Small oases of plants sometimes gain a foothold. Their roots and associated mycorrhizal fungi bind the soil and make it more resistant to erosion.2009Photo by Wendy TaheriCoal flat
