Fixed HeLa cell in mitosis

Fixed HeLa cell in mitosis

Image by Jane Stout and Jim Powers

Shown is a fixed HeLa cell in mitosis. Two proteins that localize to the ends of microtubules are shown. EB1 is labeled with an antibody and shown in red, and a kinesin is labeled with another antibody and shown in green. The position of these proteins with respect to each other on the microtubule cannot be determined using standard light microscopy. Imaging was done in the structured illumination mode. More than 3000 images were taken and processed to create this image.2010Image by Jane Stout and Jim PowersFixed HeLa cell in mitosis
