The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music Brass Department will present "Octubafest 2012" beginning Thursday, Oct. 18, and running through Tuesday, Oct. 23. The late tuba virtuoso Harvey Phillips tells the story of his amazing life and career with warmth and humor in "Mr. Tuba," published this week by Indiana University Press. Sonneborn recipient, Provost Professors

Miller, Richard

Richard B. Miller, a professor in the Department of Religious Studies at IU Bloomington, will receive the 2012 Tracy M. Sonneborn Award. Miller also has been named a Provost Professor along with Jerome Busemeyer in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences and Daniel Perantoni in the Jacobs School of Music.   Full Story >>

Jacobs School of Music student, Andy Smith, wins principal position in Lyric Opera Orchestra

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.--Following an extensive multi-week audition and interview process involving hundreds of musicians, Indiana University Jacobs School of Music student, Andy Smith, has won the principal tuba position in the Lyric Opera of Chicago orchestra.
