Breithaupt named interim dean of IU Hutton Honors College

Lauren Robel, Indiana University executive vice president and IU Bloomington provost, has appointed Fritz Breithaupt as interim dean of the Hutton Honors College, to serve during a search for a new permanent dean that will occur this fall. Breithaupt is a professor of Germanic studies, adjunct professor in comparative literature and affiliated professor of cognitive science, all in the College of Arts and Sciences. Full Story >>

Indiana University to present Distinguished Teaching Awards

In keeping with annual tradition, Indiana University will salute continued great teaching at the university, which marks its founding 193 years ago this spring. Fifteen faculty members and four doctoral students will be recognized for outstanding teaching, research and service to the university. The award recipients teach at IU Bloomington, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, IU East, IU Kokomo, IU Northwest and IU South Bend. Full Story >>

College of Arts and Sciences moves to Owen Hall, administrative offices open March 19

The Office of the Dean of the Indiana University College of Arts and Sciences is packing and labeling boxes this week, preparing to move to Owen Hall, just steps north of its current home in Kirkwood Hall. IU Bloomington undergraduates honored for outstanding research, creative activity

Six students at Indiana University Bloomington have been recognized for projects that include developing a computer vision program for identifying birds; studying associations between food and memory; and documenting an under-studied African language. Recipients of the 2011-12 Provost's Award for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity are Russell Conard, Karissa McKelvey, Kate Sanders, Juliet Stanton, Joseph Toth and Tarlise Townsend. IU Bloomington alumnus earns prestigious Hertz fellowship

Indiana University Bloomington alumnus Yun William Yu has been named a 2012 Hertz Fellow. He is the first person from IU to be awarded the honor, which is considered to be the nation's most highly competitive and prestigious graduate fellowship in the applied sciences and engineering. Full Story >>
