IU Jacobs School of Music appoints Chicago Symphony Principal Horn Dale Clevenger to faculty

The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music is pleased to announce that Dale Clevenger, principal horn of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for the past 47 years, will join its Brass Department faculty full time as professor of practice in the fall of 2013, pending approval by the Trustees of Indiana University. Jacobs professor Jeff Nelsen to speak at TEDx conference at the Buskirk-Chumley May 14

If you think that pig farming and opera singing have nothing in common, think again. Jeff Nelsen, associate professor of horn at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, is living proof that they do. Nelsen will be sharing some of the insights this unusual background provided him as one of the featured speakers at the TEDxBloomington conference, "The Wisdom of Play," this Saturday, May 14, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater in downtown Bloomington. Three IU Jacobs School of Music students place in international brass competition

Three students from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music placed in the 2010 Susan Slaughter Solo Brass Competition at the International Women's Brass Conference (IWBC) June 16-20 in Toronto, Canada. Ericka Tyner, student of Jacobs Professors Jeff Nelsen and Richard Seraphinoff, won first place in Horn Category III, then advanced to the final round, where she competed with nine other first-place winners from all of the instrumental categories and won third place in Overall Category III (ages 29 and older). Nelsens make double debut at NYC Opera
