Law team wins First Annual Transactional Lawyering Meet

A team from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law won top honors at a new competition that combines the detailed analysis of drafting legal documents with the intense strategies of business negotiations. The Law School's team swept the competition, winning Best Seller-Side Draft and Best Overall Team, in the First Annual Transactional Lawyering Meet, held at the Earle Mack School of Law at Drexel University from March 4-5, 2010. VCIC team takes second place at Mid-Atlantic Regional Final

Indiana University's Venture Capital Investment Competition team won second place at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Final at the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon. IU's team was comprised of third-year law students Casey Plant and Marshall Magaro, fourth-year JD/MBA Brian Villa, and second-year MBA students Emily Geiger and Perry Griffith. This same team won IU's internal VCIC contest last fall. At Tepper, the team beat out competitors from Maryland, Rochester, Virginia and Vanderbilt, taking second to a strong team from Georgetown. Two JD-MBA students teaming up in Urban Land Institute design competition

Jon Rinehart and Chris Stoker are participating in a multi-disciplinary team that will develop a comprehensive design and development program for an actual large-scale site. The team is responsible for delivering drawings, site plans, tables, and market-feasible financial data. The other team members consist of graduate students in architecture and landscape architecture at the University of Kansas. Full Story >>

Venture Capital team wins berth in national tournament

Three Indiana University Maurer School of Law students were part of the winning IU Internal Venture Capital Investment Competition last month, earning a coveted spot in the national competition this spring. The Elmore Entrepreneurship Law Clinic at the IU Maurer School of Law sponsored the 2nd Annual IU Internal Venture Capital Competition on Oct. 31, 2009, at the Law School. In its second year, the competition attracted 40 students from the Law School and the IU Kelley School of Business MBA program, combining into eight teams of five participants. Full Story >>

IU Maurer School of Law, Sungkyunkwan University launch J.D./M.B.A. program

Leaders from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law and Sungkyunkwan University's Graduate School of Business announced today (June 5) the creation of a joint J.D./M.B.A. program believed to be the first of its kind between an American law school and an international M.B.A. program. Law School Honors Teaching Award winners

The Indiana University Maurer School of Law recognized some of its finest teachers on April 20, during the School's annual Teaching Awards ceremony. David Williams, the John S. Hastings Professor of Law, was honored with the Leon H. Wallace Teaching Award, the Law School's top teaching prize, which he also won in 1996. Full Story >>
