Indiana University pre-college Violin Virtuosi to tour Scandinavia

Following a successful tour to Argentina last year, the IU Jacobs School of Music's pre-college Violin Virtuosi ensemble begins another tour at the end of May, this time to Scandinavia. Invited as a featured ensemble at the European String Teachers Association Conference in Falun, the tour will also take the group to Copenhagen, Malmo and Stockholm. A pre-tour concert will be offered free to the public on Sunday, May 22, at 2:30 p.m. in Ford-Crawford Hall on the Bloomington campus. Full Story >>

IU Jacobs School of Music 'Young Pianist' wins international piano competition

Yihan Chen, a student of Karen Taylor in the Young Pianists Program at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, captured the Grand Prize for Best Concerto Performance (all Young Artists levels) at the 54th World Piano Competition (WPC) July 1 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He advanced to the finals after winning the Gold Medal in the Level 10 Concerto division. Full Story >>

IU Violin Virtuosi member wins international competition

Brian Allen, a 16-year-old member of the Violin Virtuosi and the String Academy Chamber Orchestra at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, won the Lions Clubs International Global Youth Music Competition at the 93rd annual Lions Clubs International Convention June 30 in Sydney, Australia. IU Jacobs School of Music students to perform in Kennedy Center program

Six students from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music will perform on May 14 at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., as part of the center's Conservatory Project, a weeklong concert series showcasing artists from America's leading music schools. The 6 p.m. performance on the Millennium Stage in the Terrace Theater is free and open to the public and will be streamed live on the Web at 6 p.m. EST. IU Violin Virtuosi to give concert tour of Argentina
