Bayer is IUís first Academic All-American for men's track, cross country

It seems that in everything he does, Andy Bayer makes history. The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) has announced the 2011 Capital One Academic All-America men's track and field/cross country teams, and Bayer has earned third team honors. A sophomore, Bayer is the only underclassmen honoree in the University Division. A biology major with a 3.56 grade point average, Bayer is the first Academic All-American ever at Indiana in men's track and/or cross country. † Full Story >>

IU cross country men advance to NCAA Championships

The Indiana men's cross country team earned an automatic berth in the NCAA Championships with second place at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Saturday (Nov. 13). The event was hosted by Oakland University in Rochester, Mich. All of IU's top five runners finished in the top 25, including Andrew Poore, Andy Bayer and Ben Hubers who took 10th, 11th and 12th respectively. Hoosier cross country teams look to advance

Indiana continues the postseason this weekend at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in Rochester, Mich. The meet will take place on the Kate Cousins Golf Course and is being hosted by Oakland University. The women's 6K is slated for a noon start and the men's 10K will follow at 1:15 pm. The top 25 finishers in each race will earn USTFCCCA All-Region honors, and the top two teams in each race will earn automatic bids into the NCAA Championships. The top three finishers from non-advancing teams will also earn a spot in the national meet. † Full Story >>

Bayer, IU Men Second at Big Tens

The Indiana men's cross country team posted its best Big Ten finish since 2004 at the Big Ten Cross Country Championships on Saturday. The team took second, led by a second-place finish from sophomore Andy Bayer. The women improved from seventh a year ago to fifth with Sarah Pease leading the way in fifth place. Sophomore Zach Mayhew earned second team All-Big Ten honors with 11th place. The IU men finished second to Wisconsin, marking the 12th-straight win by the Badgers. Pease, Hubers Named Big Ten Runners of the Week

Ben Hubers and Sarah Pease have been named the Big Ten Runners of the Week, the conference announced. Pease took the win and Hubers finished eighth, as both runners led their teams to second place at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival in Fayetteville, Ark., on Saturday, Oct. 16. † Full Story >>
