MacTaggart Wins Men's Singles Title: Freshman Josh MacTaggart made a good fall into a great fall on Monday, winning the Big Ten Singles Tournament. MacTaggart's Big Ten men's title is the first by a Hoosier since Bill Rennie won the singles crown in 1977. The freshman has suffered only one defeat in his rookie campaign. MacTaggart, from Barnston, U.K., defeated Chris Madden of Michigan in three sets in the tournament final. He claimed the victory by a 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 tally.

Swimming's Titus Knight Named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week: For the second time in as many weeks, junior Titus Knight was named the Big Ten Men's Swimmer of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. Competing in his hometown of Austin, Texas, Knight recorded four top-two finishes, including an NCAA B qualifying mark of 1:37.91 in the 200 free. Knight is currently undefeated in the 200 free this season. He also took second in the 100 free (45.24) and 500 free (4:33.13). He teamed up with Ante Zoricic, Bryan Chovanec and Tyler Shedron to win the 200 free relay in a time of 1:22.45 as well.

Kate Fasenko Named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week: For the second time in as many weeks, senior Kate Fesenko has been named the Big Ten Women's Swimmer of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. Fesenko, from Kharkow, Ukraine, continued her dominance in the backstroke events last weekend in a double dual meet with Texas and Michigan. She continues to hold the fastest times in the NCAA in the 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke, posting a winning times of 53.30 in the 100 back and 1:55.56 in the 200 back. Both are NCAA B cuts.

Women's Hoops Destroys Lambuth: The Indiana women's basketball team topped Lambuth, 108-54, in its exhibition opener in Assembly Hall on Sunday, Nov. 1. Five Hoosiers scored in double digits as junior Jori Davis, from Rochester, N.Y., led the way with 24 points. Senior Jamie Braun, from Marshfield, Wis., tallied a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, and added a game-high five assists. Junior Hope Elam, from Champaign, Ill., recorded a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore Sasha Chaplin, from St. Petersburg, Fla., netted 14 points and grabbed eight boards, and freshman Sasha Bernard, from Delrlay Beach, Fla., tallied 11 points, four assists and two steals.

Field Hockey Named No 3 Seed in Big Ten Tourney: The No. 18 Indiana field hockey team will serve as the No. 3 seed in the 2009 Big Ten Tournament and will face the sixth-seeded Northwestern Wildcats on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 3:30 p.m. ET, in East Lansing, Mich. The Hoosiers ended the regular season with a 12-5 mark overall and a 4-2 record in the Big Ten tied with No. 13 Ohio State for second place. The Buckeyes defeated IU, 3-2, on Sept. 27, to win the tie-breaker and serve as the second seed.
