Two new grants to Indiana University from the Global Environment for Network Innovations (GENI) will provide training for network administrators and a service desk for problem reporting and project coordination. Both initiatives will support GENI, a nationwide experimental network research infrastructure sponsored by the National Science Foundation.

IU's University Information Technology Services (UITS) IT Training has announced a special pilot program for spring semester 2012 that provides IU faculty and staff with information technology workshops at no cost. The instructor-led sessions start on January 18 and cover a range of topics.

Currently, one of the best systems for storing massive amounts of data is called the High Performance Storage System (HPSS). IU has been a leader in use of HPSS software for a dozen years, and is right now hosting the annual HPSS Users Forum (HUF) at IU Bloomington. The conference concludes today (Oct. 21).

Kelley School of Business students, faculty and friends participated in the Eighth Annual Hoosiers Outrun Cancer 5k Run/Walk on Saturday, September 29, at the Indiana University Memorial Stadium. The 125 member "Kelley Runs for Walt" Team, the largest Indiana University team for the second year in a row, was organized to celebrate the life of Walt Blacconiere, former Kelley School of Business professor who passed away earlier this year.
