IU's Goodrum selected as a 2010 Sakai Fellow

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana University's David Goodrum was one of six individuals recently selected by the Sakai Foundation as a 2010 Sakai Fellow. Sakai Fellows are selected annually and are recognized for their leadership in the teaching and learning community, in software design and development, pedagogical and teaching practices, and community advocacy.

Goodrum has been an active member of the Sakai teaching and learning community and with his unique perspective, has helped ensure that future instances of Sakai are teacher- and student-centric in their design. While serving on the Sakai Product Council and the Sakai 3 Steering Committee, Goodrum facilitated discussions on identifying essential course needs and the challenges of designing software to meet those needs. Currently, Goodrum is working on anticipating emerging trends in teaching and learning by mapping relatively complex functional capabilities to basic educational goals.
Always a strong advocate for Sakai, Goodrum chaired the functional requirements committee for Oncourse CL, IU's implementation of Sakai, and was instrumental in developing a multi-campus enhancement and prioritization process based on faculty, staff, and student feedback. As chair of the Sakai support and implementation team at IU, he has worked collaboratively with the IT communication and support teams, as well as with the enterprise software and infrastructure teams.
At Indiana University, Goodrum serves as the director of Academic and Faculty Services for University Information Technology Services. He has held director positions in the Teaching and Learning Technologies Centers at IU Bloomington, with the Kelley Executive Partners E-Learning Solutions of the Kelley School of Business, and in the Instructional Consulting & Technology unit of IU's Instructional Support Services.
