BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana University Auditorium will present the annual holiday tradition Chimes of Christmas on Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m.

Seasonal tunes such as "A Christmas Gala," "Christmas on Broadway" and "Jingle Bells" will be performed by the IU Jacobs School of Music Wind Ensemble, conducted by Stephen W. Pratt; the Trombone Choir, conducted by Carl Lenthe; and the Grammy Award-nominated Singing Hoosiers, the country's premier collegiate show choir, conducted by Michael Schwartzkopf.

The Trombone Choir will perform its traditional "Hark! A Christmas Fanfare" in the lobby prior to the performance. Traditions such as the carol sing-a-long will be featured and the performance will, as always, be completed with a visit from Santa Claus.

"Chimes of Christmas is an uplifting family tradition that features music from several cultures," said Doug Booher, director of IU Auditorium. "It's clear that the holiday season has arrived when the sights and sounds of Chimes of Christmas fill IU Auditorium."

Chimes of Christmas began in the late 1950s and is one of two major concerts performed by the Singing Hoosiers each year in addition to multiple road shows and alumni performances. The group will perform its spring concert at IU Auditorium in April.
