FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 27, 2011
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels announced on June 23 that Dr. William Cast and Tom Reilly Jr. have been reappointed to third terms on the Indiana University Board of Trustees.
Cast, of Fort Wayne, earned his M.D. from Indiana University in 1962, and specializes in head and neck surgery. He was first appointed to the IU Board of Trustees in 2005. He practices with ENT Specialists in Fort Wayne, and has been active in the American Board of Otolaryngology, the American Council of Otolaryngology and the American Academy of Otolaryngology. He is now the CEO of NoMoreClipboard, an online, patient-controlled personal health record management system, and he was founding chairman of DuPont Hospital in Fort Wayne. For more than a decade, Cast was the editor and publisher of "Medical Economic Newsletter" for physicians.
First appointed to the IU Board of Trustees in 2005, Reilly, of Indianapolis, retired in 2003 after 13 years as the chairman of Reilly Industries. He holds a bachelor's degree from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School. Reilly has served as the chair of the Committee on Higher Education for the Indiana Government Efficiency Commission and is the former president and CEO of the American Chemistry Council (retired). He is active on a number of corporate boards, including OneAmerica Corp., Herff-Jones Inc. and REI Real Estate Services Inc., and retired as a director of Methodist Medical Group (formerly Methodist Hospital), among others.
Indiana University alumni elect three of the nine members of the IU Board of Trustees. Indiana's governor appoints the other six, including a student trustee. All trustees serve three-year terms, with the exception of the student trustee who serves a two-year term. Since alumni-elected trustees serve rotating terms, alumni vote for one each year, with the ballots being counted on June 30.
The appointment of an Indiana University student trustee will be announced at a later date by Gov. Daniels.
