Comedian, TV personality Ross Mathews to speak at IU

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Dec. 5, 2011

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Ross Mathews, who first rose to fame as a correspondent for "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno," will speak at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at Indiana University's Alumni Hall in the Indiana Memorial Union.

Sponsored by the Indiana Memorial Union Board, the event is free and open to the public. Mathews, who is known for his outsize personality, has appeared on television shows including "Celebrity Fit Club," "The Insider" and "Days of Our Lives." He was named one of the 30 Most Outrageous Celebrities by E! Entertainment Television and is a regular panelist on "Chelsea Lately."

Formerly referred to as "Ross the Intern," Mathews will explain how his experience as an intern for "The Tonight Show" helped him rise to fame. He will also discuss his humorous take on pop culture.

"I believe this will be a fun way for students to relax and take a break from studying for finals," said Kasie Kyle, assistant director of the Union Board's comedy committee.

Mathews, originally from a small town in Washington, attended college in Southern California at the University of La Verne. He graduated in 2002 with a degree in communications and actively pursued his career in the entertainment industry. Mathews currently holds the title for the longest running correspondent in "The Tonight Show" history.
