The title of Moran's talk is "Clark Kerr and Me: The Future of the Public Law School." Kerr rose to national prominence after World War II as the visionary leader who ensured that the University of California would become a world-class system of public higher education. Kerr's legacy has come under pressure as state funding for colleges and universities has been reduced, a phenomenon that is occurring in other states, including Indiana.

As state support declines and tuition increases, the value of a separate system of public law schools is receiving heightened scrutiny. In her lecture, Moran will contend that public legal education has a proud and distinctive tradition that demands loyalty. She will explore those traditions and offer reasons to be hopeful about the core commitments that have been the essence of public law schools.

Jerome Hall was an internationally recognized faculty member at the IU Maurer School of Law from 1939 to 1970. He was recognized for his interdisciplinary analysis of legal issues.

Moran's lecture will begin at noon in the Maurer School of Law's moot court room, 211 S. Indiana Ave., Bloomington. It is free and open to the public.
