Contingents of IU fans are caravanning to Atlanta to cheer on the IU basketball team as it competes in the Sweet 16 tournament for the first time since 2002.

"It's great to see the IU alumni unite around this team," said J T. Forbes, executive director of the IU Alumni Association, who traveled to Atlanta with a contingent from IU to support the Hoosiers.

"The pride here in Atlanta is palpable. It extends beyond basketball to every corner of the university. This team is one we can celebrate for their academic, athletic and personal integrity."

"It has been a long road back to prominence for Hoosier basketball, and this year's team and coach Crean deserve all the credit in the world for the way they have performed on the court -- and the way they represent the university every day," said IU spokesman Mark Land, who traveled to Atlanta on March 22. "We are encouraging everyone in the Hoosier Nation to wear their cream, wear their crimson -- heck, wear your candy stripes if you have them -- today to support the IU basketball team. It's been too long since a Sweet 16 appearance, so we want to help everyone enjoy the moment."
