BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- A Cappella for the Arts -- a concert to benefit IU childcare centers and their arts programs -- will feature performances by Straight No Chaser and Ladies First, Indiana University's premier a cappella groups.

The concert, sponsored by the IU Student Alumni Association, will be held at the Indiana Memorial Union's Whittenberger Auditorium on Aug. 30 at 7 p.m.

The concert is free for Student Alumni Association members and costs $5 per person for student non-members and the public. All proceeds will be donated to IU childcare centers for use in their arts programs.

Formed in 1996, Straight No Chaser received two College A Cappella Recording Awards for their album Last Call. They have toured the country, appeared on the CBS Morning Show and released five albums. Last spring, the group performed in the finals of the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella after placing first in the regional and divisional competitions.

Ladies First received a College A Cappella Recording Award for Best Female Collegiate Album of 2001 for Ticket to Run and was runner-up for the Best Female Collegiate Arrangement award for the song "Ready to Run." Formed in 1998, the group has performed all over the country and has released two albums. In the 2005 ICCA competition, Ladies First was the only all-female group in the Penn State divisional to advance to the regional.

The groups are sponsored by the IU Alumni Association. For more information about the Student Alumni Association, visit https://www.indiana.edu/~saa or call 812-855-7221.
