St. Amour selected as head of intellectual property for IU Research & Technology Corp.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 1, 2013

INDIANAPOLIS -- Brion G. St. Amour has joined Indiana University Research & Technology Corp. as head of intellectual property.

St. Amour will be responsible for preparing and filing provisional patent applications; developing and implementing intellectual property strategies with faculty inventors, industry licensees and outside patent counsel; managing intellectual property portfolio and expenses; providing counsel on intellectual property issues of interest to the office and Indiana University; and conducting various patent searches.

St. Amour is a registered patent attorney and has an extensive background in intellectual property law. Before joining IURTC, St. Amour spent time at two Indianapolis-based law firms; most recently, he served as corporate counsel for patents and technology at a large multinational corporation.

"Brion's experience will serve us well," said Marie Kerbeshian, IURTC's vice president of technology commercialization. "Not only does he know how to obtain patent protection and work well with the law firms that handle our patent work, he brings a corporate mentality to the management of our patent portfolio -- from helping us manage our patenting budget to helping us design strong patent portfolios for technology commercialization."

St. Amour holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law and earned his Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Purdue University.

"IURTC provides a unique opportunity to blend the skills learned in private practice to those developed in the corporate environment," St. Amour said. "I am excited to work with the team to develop certain operational efficiencies while growing IURTC's portfolio of strategic intellectual property assets."
