IUPUI chancellor-elect to meet with media
EDITORS: Charles Bantz, chancellor-elect for IUPUI, will be available to meet with Indianapolis-area media Thursday (Jan. 16) from10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the president's conference room (Room 243) of the IUPUI Conference Center, located at the intersection of Michigan and Blake streets. Bantz will be accompanied by his wife, Sandra Petronio, who will become a faculty member in the Department of Communication Studies at IUPUI and will join the Indiana University Center for Bioethics.
Indiana University announced Monday (Jan. 13) that Interim President Gerald Bepko would recommend Bantz as the new chancellor of IUPUI, effective June 1. Bepko also will recommend that Bantz serve as the vice president for long-range planning for Indiana University, a post Bepko held while chancellor at IUPUI. The IU Board of Trustees will consider the recommendations at its Jan. 31 meeting.
Bantz currently is provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Wayne State (Mich.) University. Petronio is a professor in the Department of Communication at Wayne State.
