BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana University's Union Board and Live Nation are bringing the Grammy-winning alternative band Wilco to Bloomington for an April 16 performance at IU Auditorium.

Wilco's tour begins April 14 at the Pabst Theatre in Milwaukee, with additional stops in Athens, Ohio; Knoxville, Tenn.; Athens, Ga.; Asheville, N.C.; Birmingham, Ala.; and Oxford, Miss. It culminates on April 25 at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. After a May tour of Spain and Portugal, the Chicago band return to the states for more touring, including a spot on this year's Bonnaroo bill in Manchester, Tenn., June 11-14.

A new Wilco concert CD, Ashes of American Flags (Nonesuch Records), will be released Saturday, April 18, at independent retailers nationwide as part of national Record Store Day. The DVD will also be available on that day from wilcoworld.net and nonesuch.com. A broader release through iTunes, Amazon.com and chain retail outlets will follow on April 28. A trailer can be viewed by visiting wilcoworld.net or ashesofamericanmovie.com.

The band is presently working in its Chicago loft on a new studio album, which is tentatively scheduled for a June release. The as-yet-untitled work is the follow-up to 2007's Sky Blue Sky.

Ashes of American Flags is produced and directed by Christoph Green and Fugazi's Brendan Canty and shot in five quintessentially American venues -- Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa, Okla.; Tipitina's in New Orleans; The Mobile Civic Center in Mobile, Ala.; The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville; and the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. Mixing live concert footage with band interviews, it takes the viewer behind the scenes of Wilco's 2008 U.S. tour capturing both the expansive experience of rolling across America in a tour bus and the intimacy that happens night after night between the members of Wilco and the music they make, and between the band and their fans who come to experience it with them.

The Bloomington show will mark the second time Wilco has performed at IU.

News Media: Media that wish to shoot at the Wilco event must contact the Indiana Memorial Union Board Director of Public Relations, Hannah Kinkead at ubpr@indiana.edu, and submit a formal request. Following the request, Union Board will provide photographers with the time and place to pick up their official badges. Restrictions are as follows: No flash photography at the concert, please. Photographers should shoot from the 10th row or back on the outside aisles. After the first 10 minutes, please find a seat to avoid distracting the audience. Tripods are not permitted. There is no audio or video recording permitted.
