Media Advisory: Indiana University, Crane Naval Center ceremony to recognize LINAC funding

Editors: On Monday (April 13) in Bloomington, Indiana University and Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center will formally recognize federal approval of a $1.17 million funding allocation toward completion of the Advanced LINAC Facility in development at the IU Cyclotron Facility.
Participating in the ceremony will be IU Bloomington Provost and Executive Vice President Karen Hanson, U.S. Rep. Baron Hill and U.S. Navy Captain Charles LaSota.
WHAT: A partnership ceremony recognizing continuation in funding toward completion of the Advanced LINAC Facility located at the IU Cyclotron Facility. The electron linear accelerator (LINAC) is an electrical device used to accelerate subatomic particles that will be used to support Department of Defense studies related to the survivability and reliability of space and missile systems in radiation environments found in space. IU will use LINAC for teaching and research in physics, biology, chemistry and the life sciences.
