Senior Salute is the largest graduation party on the IU Bloomington campus. Hosted by the IU Student Alumni Association and IU Alumni Association, Senior Salute congratulates all graduating students and introduces them to multiple ways to stay connected to IU long after graduation.

IU schools and academic departments, alumni groups and affiliate groups will have the opportunity to connect with IU's newest graduating class at this event. All students graduating in 2009, including undergraduate, graduate and professional students, are invited to attend.

This year's event features a themed contest called "What's on your Bucket List?" This contest gives graduating students a chance to write down 10 things they want to accomplish before they graduate from IU. Students can go to the SAA Web site at to download the entry form, and they can submit the form to the SAA office or to until Friday, April 24.

From the bucket lists submitted, two graduating students will be chosen to win a hot air balloon ride with Dean of Students Dick McKaig during the close of Senior Salute.

Senior Salute will feature free food from Buffalouie's, Bucceto's Smiling Teeth and Bruster's Real Ice Cream; live music by Dave and Rae; and games including cornhole and inflatable jousting. Door prizes will include a life membership to the IUAA (a $395 value), an official IU ring, a diploma frame, free Panera Bread bagels for one year and more.

The first 1,000 seniors in attendance will receive a free IU Class of 2009 commemorative glass and gifts from their school. Graduating students must present their student ID cards to be eligible for prizes and gifts.

IU President Michael A. Mc Robbie, IUAA President and CEO Tom Martz, IU Foundation President and CEO Gene Tempel, IU Student Foundation President Molly Phillips and SAA President Lindsey Livingston will make brief remarks. In addition, there will be a tree dedication ceremony with IU Bloomington Provost and Executive Vice President Karen Hanson and IU men's basketball head coach Tom Crean.

Major sponsors of Senior Salute include the IU Foundation and the IU Credit Union.

One of the largest and most active student organizations at IU Bloomington, the SAA sponsors student leadership initiatives and events such as Homecoming, Networking Nights, Leadershape IU and business-etiquette programs.

The IUAA is dedicated to serving the university and its diverse alumni, students and friends. As one of the nation's largest alumni organizations, serving nearly 520,000 graduates worldwide, the IUAA provides many programs and services to its members, nonmember alumni and the university.
