Media Advisory: IU's State of the University Address is postponed
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Sept. 17, 2009
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana University announced today (Sept. 17) that it has postponed the annual State of the University Address.
Originally scheduled for Sept. 22, the address has been moved to Oct. 12 at 2 p.m. in Alumni Hall of the Indiana Memorial Union.
The University Faculty Council -- which includes the President's State of the University Address during its meeting -- stated that it made the decision out of consideration for services and activities associated with commemorating the passing of IU's 16th President, Myles Brand, and well known philanthropist and IU benefactor Mel Simon. The Council released a statement remembering these two distinguished individuals.
"Indiana University suffered a great loss yesterday with the passing of these two distinguished individuals, who made a truly transformative difference in the life of the university."
