Media Advisory: see Opportunity land on Mars

NASA television on big screen in large lecture room

During the Opportunity spacecraft landing on Mars this weekend, the Indiana University Astronomy Department will project NASA's live television broadcast onto the big screen in Swain Hall West 119, a large lecture hall on the Bloomington campus. The event is free and open to the public.

"We'll begin about 11 p.m. on Saturday night (Jan. 24) and continue until about 3 a.m. Sunday morning," said Professor Caty Pilachowski, the Daniel Kirkwood Chair in Astronomy at IU. "Some of us will be on hand to provide local color as well. We are inviting students in our introductory astronomy and physics classes, and the public is welcome, too." Pilachowski can be reached at 812-855-6913 or catyp@astro.indiana.edu.
