IU's Events Calendar expanded to six IU campuses
Indiana University's Events Calendar has expanded to include six of IU's eight campuses, which allows media, alumni, students and other interested parties to access information regarding campus events and activities. Information regarding lectures, official ceremonies, student activities, musical and theatrical events, art exhibits and more can be found online at https://events.iu.edu.
Various schools, departments, recognized student organizations and centers on the campuses of IU Bloomington, IUPUI, IU Kokomo, IU East, IU South Bend and IU Southeast are now posting to the IU Events Calendar. The IU Alumni Association also uses the system, which allows alumni clubs in other parts of the United States to access and add information.
IU's Events Calendar offers keyword searching, print-ready pages, e-mail subscribing and the ability to add events to personal calendars automatically. Users can set different views, add links and use html in the descriptions.
"The sheer number of Web sites at IU -- in the thousands -- makes finding a specific event a 'needle in a haystack' effort," said Nick McCammon, the IU system-wide administrator of the calendar. "The system-wide calendar addresses the problem of finding numerous events on various campuses in one location. Also, with six campuses using the system, it means one purchase of software instead of six, one server instead of six servers, and three persons maintaining that application and server instead of 18."
Any IU school, department, academic center and recognized student organization may use the calendar system.
