Six IU Alumni Association programs earn CASE V awards

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Nov. 24, 2009

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- For the fifth consecutive year, the Indiana University Alumni Association has received awards from its professional organization, the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), Region V.

The IUAA earned one gold, two silver, and three bronze awards in the annual Pride of CASE V Awards Program.

"I couldn't be more proud of our hardworking staff and volunteers as evidenced by the CASE V awards we received this year," said Tom Martz, president and chief executive officer of the IU Alumni Association. "The IU Alumni Association is honored to be recognized once again for our outstanding collaborative programs."

The Alumni Association received two bronze awards for its IU International Alumni Conference and Reunion in both the "Best Practices in Alumni Relations" and "Best Collaborative Program" divisions. The Indiana Alumni magazine received a bronze in the "Best Alumni/Institution Magazine" category.

Silver awards went to the IU School of Law-Indianapolis Alumni Association for its Operation L.A.W.S. (law alumni working with students) program in the "Best Student Alumni Programming" category, and to IUPUI for its continuing education conference, "Homicide Investigation: From Crime Scene to Court," in the "Best Collaborative Program" category.

A gold award went to the John Whittenberger Society Newsletter in the "Most Improved Tabloid/Newsletter" category.

"Overhauling a publication is a big job, and the IMU and Whittenberger Society really approached the process with an open mind," said Sarah Preuschl Anderson, Bloomington director of constituent periodicals with the IUAA. "The result is a dynamic, fun newsletter. Teamwork paid off, and we're honored to be in the company of our peers in this category."

Award recipients were notified on Oct. 22 and will receive their awards at the closing luncheon of the 2009 CASE V District Conference on Dec. 15 in Chicago. More information on CASE and the Pride of CASE V Awards program can be found at www.casefive.org.
