ET, are you there?
UFO sightings, moon walks, Mars roving -- perhaps even alien-inspired prehistoric art -- fascinate, inspire and fuel our sense of wonder about the possibilities of intelligent civilization on other worlds. Jill Tarter, research director of the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence Institute (SETI), was the Konopinski Memorial Lecturer in Physics this month at IU Bloomington. Go to the new IU Home Pages online https://www.homepages.indiana.edu/031204/ to listen to her conversation with colleague Caty Pilachowski, the inaugural Kirkwood Chair of Astronomy at IU.
Also in the new issue: IU Northwest, a look at the Gary campus; Labor Pains, a story about the challenges facing working women; Alchemy and 'Egyptomania,' an alchemy of art and science at the IUPUI Herron Gallery; and much more.
