Aug. 25, 2010
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- All Indiana University students are invited to attend the 2010 IU Student Involvement Fair Wednesday, Sept. 8, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This year's fair takes place in the Indiana Memorial Union hotel parking lot near Woodburn and Ballantine Halls.
More than 250 student organizations, local non-profit agencies and IU offices that offer involvement opportunities will host tables at the event to attract new and returning students. Participants will be able to meet current student leaders, IU administrators and Bloomington community members in order to find involvement opportunities that meet their interests.
Some of the participating student organizations include Red Cross Club, Model United Nations, Hip Hop Congress, the Indian Student Association and representatives from many fraternities and sororities. Local non-profit agencies such as the Boys and Girls Club, Mother Hubbard's Cupboard, the Interfaith Winter Shelter and Middle Way House will also be represented with information about volunteer opportunities.
Indiana University student radio station WIUX will be broadcasting from the event, playing "pure student radio" throughout. In addition, local radio station B97 will do a live remote broadcast from the fair and will distribute free goodie-bags to students.
The 2010 IU Student Involvement Fair is sponsored by a committee including representatives from Student Activities, the Indiana Memorial Union, Union Board, the Commission on Multicultural Understanding, the Office of First Year Experience Programs and the Office of Diversity Education.
