IU Bloomington Continuing Studies launches spring courses

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana University Bloomington Continuing Studies is launching its Winter/Spring 2011 Lifelong Learning and Professional Development course offerings, which include more than 75 noncredit classes designed for local adults.
The 10th annual IU Authors' Series will feature authors Audrey McCluskey and her book Richard Pryor: The Life and Legacy of a "Crazy" Black Man; Samrat Upadhyay and his novel Buddha's Orphans; and Rachel Peden's works as presented by IU Press editor Linda Oblack. The IU Authors' Series is offered in cooperation with the IU Alumni Association.
Other course titles include Strike Up the Band: Music and IU Athletics, Warhol-mania and Modern India: Culture and Politics. Day trips that feature destinations such as the Indianapolis Repertory Theatre and the T.C. Steele State Historic Site will allow participants the opportunity to learn and travel to nearby sites of interest.
Professional development certificate programs with courses taught by business professionals, industry experts and IU faculty are available in diverse areas including event planning, digital photography and Web design. Courses on the life sciences industry, project management and financial and estate planning will also be offered.

Many courses will be held at IU Bloomington Continuing Studies' Community Education Center at Fountain Square Mall and at other community locations such as Meadowood Retirement Community and WorkOne.
