SPEA Auction and Gala scheduled March 31
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 24, 2011
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) at Indiana University Bloomington will have its sixth annual SPEA Auction and Gala on Thursday, March 31, from 7-10 p.m. in Alumni Hall at the Indiana Memorial Union, 900 E. Seventh St.
The cocktail-attire event is a fundraiser organized by students in which 100 percent of the proceeds go directly back to the student community. The earnings from the event support scholarships for SPEA master's degree candidates pursuing unpaid or minimally paid internships or research pursuits, in addition to professional development opportunities. Past Auction and Gala events have helped to provide individual scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,000.
The SPEA Auction and Gala is an opportunity for students, university faculty, SPEA alumni, staff and community members to come together and raise much needed monies for SPEA students to hone their professional skills and pursue their passions.
The festivities will include live entertainment, hors d'ouevres and, most importantly, the opportunity for attendees to bid on silent and live auction items to raise money for a worthy cause. Items auctioned off in the past have included original artwork, travel packages, autographed sports memorabilia, hand crafted jewelry and more.
Tickets are $20 and will be on sale next week Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Tavis Smiley Atrium of the SPEA Building. Tickets will also be available at the door the evening of the auction and gala.
