Media advisory: Rosenfeld, Harrison to deliver public lectures at antisemitism conference

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Professor Alvin H. Rosenfeld will deliver a Simona and Hart Hasten Lecture in Jewish Studies on Monday (April 4) during the inaugural spring conference of the Institute for the Study of Contemporary Antisemitism at Indiana University.
Rosenfeld, the director of the institute and the Irving M. Glazer Chair in Jewish Studies at IU, will speak on "The End of the Holocaust and the Beginning of the New Antisemitism" at 8 p.m. in the Frangipani Room of the Indiana Memorial Union. Irwin Cotler, a member of the Parliament of Canada, was scheduled to give the Monday lecture but will not be able to attend the conference.
Bernard Harrison, emeritus professor of philosophy at the University of Utah and the University of Sussex in England, will also deliver a Simona and Hart Hasten Lecture during the conference at 8 p.m. Sunday (April 3), also in the Frangipani Room. The lectures are free and open to the public.
The lectures are part of an international conference, titled "Resurgent Antisemitism: Global Perspectives," taking place April 3-5 at Indiana University Bloomington. The invitation-only conference brings together leading experts on what has been called "the new antisemitism" for a scholarly examination of anti-Jewish bias and hatred that has arisen across much of the world in the past decade.
