April 15, 2011
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Indiana University Board of Trustees today (April 15) approved design work to proceed on a parking expansion project at IU South Bend. The design will include two parking areas located on the west side of the IU South Bend campus, accommodating approximately 170 parking places, which include eight handicapped accessible spaces.
The parking lots will be located on university-owned property between Esther Street to the east, Bellevue Avenue to the west, Hildreth Street to the south and Mishawaka Avenue to the north. The design work includes parking lot layout, ingress and egress, and landscaping. More than 100 new trees will be added to the site when the landscaping is complete.
IU has been acquiring property in the area for more than 20 years as part of the campus master plan for expansion of IU South Bend.
