The first-place winner, awarded $1,000, is freshman Samuel Gaskin, who studies with Professor Christopher Young. The second-place award of $500 went to graduate student Matthew Middleton, who studies with Professor Janette Fishell.

The competition featured the Fisk-built organ in Auer Hall and the organ department choir under the direction of Visiting Associate Professor Jeffrey Smith, who also coordinated the competition. The performance included works by Purcell, Stanford and Vaughan Williams, along with an Anglican chant, German Chorale and 19th-century hymns.

Dr. Marko Petricic of the University of Indianapolis served as competition judge.

Two prizes were sponsored by the Schoenstein and Co. Organ Builders, San Francisco.
