K-12 public opinion survey results to be presented to Indiana State Board of Education on Wednesday
EDITORS AND REPORTERS: Jonathan Plucker, director of the Center for Evaluation and Education Policy (CEEP) at Indiana University Bloomington, and Terry Spradlin, CEEP's associate director for education policy, will present findings from the 2004 Public Opinion Survey on Education in Indiana to the Indiana State Board of Education.
Date: Wednesday (Feb. 2).
Time: 10 a.m.
Location: The Department of Education' s James Whitcomb Riley Conference Room, 151 W. Ohio St., Indianapolis.
The 2004 Public Opinion Survey collected Indiana residents' opinions on such key educational issues as adequate school funding and taxes, overall support of public schools, school choice, teacher quality, the federal No Child Left Behind program and the achievement gap in the state. The survey found, for example, that as in last year's survey, citizens believe strongly that schools are under-funded and that public school funding levels affect the quality of education students receive. Hoosiers continue to have positive attitudes about public K-12 schools, according to the survey.
