FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Nov. 16, 2011
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Four outstanding leaders are joining the Indiana University Alumni Association in critical roles.
The four additions to the IUAA staff announced today, Nov. 16, are Erin Zody, director of finance, planning and alumni business operations; Bryan Bradford, alumni relations officer; Michael Mann, alumni program officer for spirit, pride and tradition; and Emili Sperling, alumni program officer for student and recent graduate enrichment.
"These four individuals join a team of alumni relations staff and volunteers who believe in the promise of Indiana University," said J Thomas Forbes, executive director and CEO of the IUAA. "They are talented, resourceful, welcoming professionals who will fit well in our organization."
Zody, who joins the IUAA on Dec. 1, will lead the financial aspects of the IUAA's operation, including its global network of alumni groups. She will also work with university partners such as the IU Foundation. Reporting to Forbes, she replaces Pete Yoder, who is retiring as chief financial officer of the IUAA.
"Erin will be a great addition to the IUAA senior leadership team," Forbes said. "She brings abundant energy, significant skill, a sharp mind and great personal warmth to this role."
Zody, who earned both a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance and an MBA in accounting from the IU Kelley School of Business, comes to the IUAA from Indianapolis-based Clifton Gunderson LLP, where she is senior manager of valuation and forensic services. Previously, she served as a senior financial analyst at Nortel.
Bradford, beginning Dec. 1, will work as an alumni relations officer within an IUAA team that aims to build strong alumni leaders and communities.
"Bryan brings a unique combination of strategic, systems-oriented thinking and an outgoing personality," said IUAA Senior Alumni Relations Officer Jen Goins, to whom Bradford will report. "He has been a front-line admissions officer, working with a diverse array of parents, students, faculty and staff at a wide range of institutions."
Currently senior associate director of admissions for systems and operations in the IU Bloomington Office of Admissions, Bradford has also served in admissions roles at the University of Alabama and the University of Texas at Dallas. Bradford holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Arkansas State University and a master's degree in higher education/student personnel from the University of Mississippi.
Mann becomes alumni program officer for spirit, pride and tradition on Dec. 1.
"Mike will develop programs that celebrate IU's many great strengths and traditions," said Brian Breittholz, the IUAA's senior alumni program officer, to whom Mann will report. "He is known to all of us as an inclusive, passionate, goal-, detail- and deadline-oriented innovator."
Mann is currently marketing manager for T.I.S. Group in Bloomington, Ind., which is his latest role in a 20-year career of developing, implementing and managing successful programs in the retail and professional services industries.
A former member of the IUAA Executive Council and a recipient of the IUAA's President's Award, Mann holds a bachelor's degree in marketing from the IU Kelley School of Business.
Sperling began Tuesday, Nov. 15, as alumni program officer for student and recent graduate enrichment. She joins the IUAA after serving as senior admissions director in the IU Bloomington Office of Admissions.
Breittholz, to whom Sperling reports, said: "Emili's work in the strategic, outcome-driven, service-oriented culture of admissions is a good fit with our efforts to develop our current students into our future leaders, and launch initiatives to help our recent graduates get off to a great start in their communities and careers after graduation."
A significant duty for Sperling, who earned a bachelor's degree in Spanish from IU, is providing direction to the Student Alumni Association.
The IU Alumni Association is dedicated to serving the university and its diverse alumni, students and friends. As one of the nation's largest alumni organizations, serving more than 550,000 graduates worldwide, the IUAA provides many programs and services to its members, nonmember alumni and the university.
