Media advisory: Indiana Partnerships Center to release IU CEEP study on chronic student absenteeism

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indiana Partnerships Center, a not-for-profit organization that helps parents engage in their child's school and encourages schools to welcome parents as partners, will hold a news conference Wednesday, July 25, to release its groundbreaking study conducted by the Center for Evaluation & Education Policy at Indiana University about the prevalence of chronic absenteeism and its serious consequences on Indiana students.

A campaign to inform students, parents and the community about the profound effects of chronic absence will be unveiled, and a community forum involving more than 70 education and civic professionals will follow the news conference.
The study was funded by USA Funds and State Farm.

WHERE: WFYI, 1630 N. Meridian St. A visitor parking lot is directly behind WFYI and accessible from Pierson Street, which is just west of Meridian Street. To enter the building, follow the Eli Lilly and Co. Foundation Welcome Promenade & Plaza around the north end of the building to the lobby entrance along Meridian Street.
Partners for the study were CEEP at Indiana University; Marion County Commission on Youth; Net Literacy; and Attendance Works, a national organization that promotes better policy and practice around school attendance. WFYI's American Graduate initiative is assisting in the public-awareness campaign. Clear Channel Outdoor is a media partner.
