Grammy Award winner John Legend to perform acoustic show at IU Auditorium

Nov. 12, 2012

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Nine-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter John Legend will perform an acoustic solo show at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at Indiana University Auditorium.

The show is presented by Indiana University Memorial Union Board. Tickets will be available at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, for $35, $45 and $55. A limited number of VIP tickets, which include a meet-and-greet with the R&B/soul artist, will be available for $100.

Born in Springfield, Ohio, John Roger Stephens graduated from University of Pennsylvania in 1999. After playing back-up piano for Lauryn Hill, he began collaborating with then up-and-comer Kanye West. Stephens changed his stage name to John Legend and his debut album, "Get Lifted," was certified gold and won him three Grammys. He then released "Once Again" and "Evolver," which gained him a combined three Grammys. In 2010, he collaborated with hip-hop group The Roots for "Wake Up!," an album with a message of social awareness and engagement that won yet another three Grammys. Recently, he has appeared in other media, such as judging the ABC reality show "Duets," and he is signed to West's GOOD Music.

In the past year, Legend completed a 50-date tour with British soul band Sade and began working on his new album, which will be called "Love in the Future." He is expected to play many of his hits during his appearance at IU, and this intimate performance will also act as a preview to what he is calling, "the best album of my career so far."

Tickets can be purchased at, the IU Auditorium Box Office and all Ticketmaster locations. A lottery will be conducted at the IU Auditorium Box Office to determine customers' places in line, with lottery ticket distribution beginning at 9 a.m.
