IU to participate in Techpoint's Indiana Tech Summit 8

Indiana University Bloomington and IUPUI will showcase the university's intellectual, technological and scientific support for the state of Indiana's technology and life sciences economy at Techpoint's Indiana Tech Summit 8, Nov. 1, at the Indiana Convention Center.
Pervasive Technology Labs at IU will announce that all six of its labs at Bloomington and Indianapolis have created spin-off companies, marking a significant milestone in IU's economic development program. University faculty and technology experts will also participate in two panel discussions and demonstrate their expertise at IU's exhibit space.
IU presenters:
10:40 a.m. -- Panel discussion: "The Health and Life Sciences Economy of Indiana: Today and Tomorrow." Craig Stewart, associate vice president of research and academic computing and chief operating officer of IU's Pervasive Technology Labs, and A. Keith Dunker, professor and director of the Center for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics and professor of biochemistry and molecular biology at the IU School of Medicine, will be among those participating.
3:30 p.m. -- Panel discussion on "Practical Issues in Cybersecurity." Mark Bruhn, associate vice president of telecommunications at IU; Tom Davis, information technology security officer; and Markus Jakobsson, associate professor of Informatics and associate director of IU's Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research, will participate along with representatives from Cisco, Purdue University and the FBI.
IU's exhibit on the convention floor will feature participation from a number of Indiana University and IUPUI programs engaged in workforce and economic development and civic engagement. A 3-D stereoscopic visualization," Painting with Electrons," celebrating art, science, health and technology, will be among the highlights. The visualization was created by Albert William, visiting associate professor in the IU School of Informatics, with technical direction by Rob Stein, Pervasive Technology Labs at Indiana University.
Other university schools, departments and centers on the floor will include: IU School of Informatics; IU School of Liberal Arts, IUPUI (The Polis Center); IU School of Medicine; IUPUI Solution Center; Indiana University Research and Technology Corporation (IURTC); IU Kelley School of Business; Purdue School of Engineering and Technology, IUPUI; IUPUI School of Science; and Herron School of Art and Design (Center for Art, Design and Public Life).
