McRobbie announces acting IT leadership appointments for Indiana University

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Michael A. McRobbie announced today (Feb. 3) the appointments of Bradley C. Wheeler as acting chief information officer and Garland C. Elmore as acting deputy chief information officer for Indiana University. As acting CIO and acting deputy CIO overseeing University Information Technology Services, Wheeler and Elmore will temporarily succeed Michael A. McRobbie while he serves in his recently appointed role as interim provost and vice president for academic affairs, Bloomington. McRobbie continues as vice president for information technology.

As acting CIO, Wheeler will provide overall leadership for the organization with a focus on strategic and priority initiatives for Indiana University. Wheeler, an associate professor in the Kelley School of Business, has most recently served the university as associate vice president for community source initiatives and dean for information technology, IU Bloomington. Nationally, Wheeler serves as vice chairman for the Sakai Foundation Board of Directors, chairs the Kuali Project Board and led the Open Source Portfolio 2 project.

Garland Elmore

Elmore, an associate professor of informatics and communication, has served as associate vice president for teaching and learning information technologies and dean for information technology at IUPUI, overseeing the delivery of computer support services for students, faculty and staff on the IUB and IUPUI campuses, and support for enterprise systems and services across IU.
