Media Alert

Indiana University basketball fans unable to travel to Atlanta for the NCAA Final Four on Saturday night can watch the Hoosiers for free in the friendly confines of Assembly Hall on the Bloomington campus.

IU fans can watch the 6 p.m. game between IU and the University of Oklahoma on a large screen that will be mounted in Assembly Hall. Officials are making arrangements for participation by university cheerleaders and a pep band from the School of Music.

Parking will be free. Those attending should use the lots on the south and west sides of Assembly Hall.

The south doors to Assembly Hall will open at 4:30 p.m. for all Hoosier fans interested in watching the game. Concession stands will have food and soft drinks for sale, and IU merchandise will be for sale to help those attending get in the spirit of the occasion.

IU Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Richard McKaig, who is coordinating the arrangements with the IU Athletics Department and the Student Athletics Board, said, "This will be just like going to an IU game in Assembly Hall, except the action will be on a large screen. We wanted to provide a location for students, alumni, community residents and other IU fans to share their excitement with others in a safe and secure environment."
