Prize-winning novelist Auel to visit IU
Best-selling author Jean Auel will give a lecture Thursday (May 16) at 6 p.m. at Indiana University on her latest novel, The Shelters of Stone. Her presentation will be in Alumni Hall of the Indiana Memorial Union.

Auel, best known for Clan of the Cave Bear and other installments of her fiction series, "Earth's Children," is respected for her painstaking anthropological research that provides the basis of her books. Among Auel's many scientific advisers are IU anthropologists Kathy Schick and Nicholas Toth, the wife and husband who are co-directors of IU's Center for Research into the Anthropological Foundations of Technology (CRAFT).
Following her talk and subsequent book signing, Auel will join members of the CRAFT advisory board at a local restaurant where they will use stone tools as their sole eating utensils.
