Perishable food storage guide

The food items below should be stored at 40 F or cooler and then discarded after the noted duration.

  • Cooked meat or poultry: 3-4 days
  • Opened lunch meats: 3-5 days
  • Soups and stews with vegetables or meat: 3-4 days
  • Gravy and meat broth: 1-2 days
  • Fish, raw: 1-2 days
  • Fish, cooked: 3-4 days
  • Fish, smoked: 14 days
  • Shellfish, raw: 1-2 days
  • Shellfish, cooked: 3-4 days
  • Egg, tuna and macaroni salads: 3-5 days
  • Raw egg yolks or white, out of shell: 2-4 days
  • Eggnog, commercial: 3-5 days
  • Juices in cartons, opened: 7-10 days
  • Buttermilk: 7-14 days
  • Whipping cream, whipped and sweetened: 1 day
  • Pudding, open: 2 days
  • Cooked fresh vegetables: 3-4 days
  • Cooked pasta: 3-5 days
  • Pizza 3 to 4 days
  • Cooked rice: 7 days
  • Stuffing: 3-4 days
