IU Alumni Association awards $275,000 in scholarships
The Indiana University Alumni Association, its clubs, constituent societies, affiliate groups and other programs awarded approximately $275,000 in scholarships during its 2002 fiscal year, from July 2001 through June 2002.
In its history, the IU Alumni Association has awarded nearly $2 million in scholarships.
Local IU alumni clubs, which operate around the world, accounted for about $65,000 in 2002. The Distinguished Alumni Service Award Club awarded $60,500 and the IU South Bend Alumni Association's scholarships totaled $49,000.
Other organizations and scholarships that contributed included the Whittenberger Society, the IU East Alumni Association, the IU Southeast Alumni Association, Hoosiers for Higher Education (which presents the Welsh-Bowen Award), the IPFW Alumni Association, IUAA Scholars (using proceeds from the IU license plate program) and the IU Kokomo Alumni Association.
Other organizations, events and scholarships were the Jerry Foster Memorial Scholarship, IU Law-Indianapolis Alumni Association, the Linsmith Scholarship, the Neal-Marshall Club, the School of Nursing Alumni Association, the Air Force ROTC Alumni Association, the School of Public and Environmental Affairs Alumni Association, the School of Dentistry Alumni Association, the School of Social Work Alumni Association, the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation Alumni Association and the Claude Rich Open golf tournament.
The IU Alumni Association serves the university and its more than 440,000 living graduates through programs, services and communications.
