Media advisory: Powerful new IU computing facility to be unveiled
Indiana University will dedicate its new Analysis and Visualization of Instrument-Driven Data facility on Wednesday (March 26). The 9:30 a.m. ceremony at IU Bloomington's Wrubel Computing Center will feature remarks by Michael McRobbie, IU vice president for information technology and chief information officer, and National Science Foundation Assistant Director Peter Freeman.
AVIDD is a powerful "distributed computing" system that links computers at IU Bloomington, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, and IU Northwest. The system will be devoted to processing data for complex research projects, especially in the life sciences, chemistry, meteorology and physics. Funding for AVIDD was provided by the National Science Foundation.
